During a recent visit to the supermarket, I got all nostalgic when I found this:
Made from malt extract and whey, Ovaltine tastes exactly like a big warm hug. It also conjures up fond memories of my awesome grandmother, and the comfy warm nights we spent cuddled up by the fireplace, drinking Ovaltine from big coffee mugs.
Naturally, I couldn’t resist making it into a cold, summery bubble tea.
What you will need:
- 4 tablespoons of Ovaltine powder ( I use the milk-based type so I don’t need to add milk, just water.)
- 1 cup (250 ml) of water
- 1/2 cup cooked cooked tapioca pearls
- 2 glasses of ice, with 250ml (1 cup) of ice in each.
- 2 tablespoons of sugar or bubble tea syrup
Step 1:
Put 4 tablespoons of Ovaltine powder into a cup.
Step 2:
Boil 1 cup of water.
Step 3:
Pour the hot water into the cup and stir until the Ovaltine powder dissolves.
Step 4:
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar or bubble tea syrup. You can skip this step if you think it’s already sweet enough.
Step 5:
Pour the Ovaltine mixture into the glass containing 1 cup of ice.
Step 6:
Stir to cool it down.
Step 7:
Pour the Ovaltine mixture from the first glass into the 2nd glass with ice. This will ensure that it is cooled but not too diluted by the melting ice.
Step 8:
Add the 1/2 cup of cooked tapioca pearls, a giant bubble tea straw, and enjoy!
